Poem: Memories

Hello, I'm back, expecting an essay or story, well, you'll have to wait for another post but believe me, I will strictly refrain from posting any more poetry until I haven't published one or two essays or stories, even if they're bouncing in my diary to be published.

Well, to be honest, I have a couple of essays and stories in my diary, but I'm too lazy to publish them, I know you might be wondering why am I too fast regarding poetry then, that's because poetry takes less time to jump in my mind, scribble on the paper, and type on the blog (I'm too lazy in typing :\ ). So excuse me for now, and feel free to skip through it if you're tired of my poetry.

A little bit of background for this poem is that, unlike the previous one, it didn't take any time to write, I did focus on balancing words and rhymes in it. and a quite interesting part is that I wrote it while sitting outdoors in a park, the sun was setting and washed over a sudden wave of nostalgia over me, turning my state of mind into "Very Poetic".

Why wouldn't they just disappear

Vanish into thin air

Stop haunting me like a nightmare

It just does not seem to be fair

How nice it would be

If they could just lower behind a horizon

Just like that old day's sun

Never to return

They ask, 'Why do you hate them'?

It's because they're my enemies

They open up my wounds

Whenever they visit me

I want to lock them up in a cupboard

But maybe someday,

I'll regret doing so

And the memory of it will haunt me forever

Like of all the things I've done ever

And the cycle of it will go on forever

To stop never

  1. Very nice poem , Ammara.....It seemed to me as if I was standing in the poem as a word.
As I love remembering my old memories but sometimes when I miss them a lot I feel that its very useless to think about them always and now after reading your poem I really feel like now, even in the present my good old memories too haunt me sometimes as I often remember them when I am spending a bad time.....

    P.S
please do publish something again like this ,this poem of yours really made me live in the present and forget the bad behind past............good work ,just keep it up.

  2. Hey, thanks a lot for the appreciation, it means a lot to me. I was so overcome by sentimental feelings as I watched the sun lower behind the mountain that I wrote a poem overcome by my emotions and state of mind.
By the way, I also read somewhere that as the sun goes down, you become more nostalgic and I was later thinking that maybe it was the reason behind my state of mind
